Dear St Joseph Families,
Mid-February already? 2026 has not stopped. Iceovers, fundraisers, book fairs, grandparents day, Mardi Gras parades, spring practices, basketball games, open houses, etc. Life is good, but man, it sure is busy. When life gets too busy, we sometimes shift our focus from the most important part of our lives- our relationship with Christ. I pray this remains the top reason our families choose Catholic education. Sure, all of the other activities are good and important, but unless we strive to keep Christ at the heart of it all, these moments can have very little meaning- and at a Catholic school, we do not wish for that!
Wednesday marks the beginning of the holy season of Lent. It is a liturgical season created in the early Church to intensify one’s walk with Christ. It is a season when we practice prayer, fasting, and almsgiving to bring greater meaning to our lives.
This life means very little if we do not grow in our relationship with Christ and welcome him in every facet of it. Are there areas that are filled with stress rather than grace? Are there matters that we concern ourselves with that have very little to do with the Gospel or virtue? Are we stuck doomscrolling on our phones in a parking lot instead of reading or listening to something that will benefit our family?
I pray that during this season of Lent, we can find time to bring Christ back to every corner of our lives and round off the parts we no longer need. Let us allow him to be our all-in-all so that we may better understand what he desires for our lives. Let’s have a great week and an even better Lent. St. Joseph, pray for us.
