Dear St. Joseph Families,

School spirit is an important aspect of every campus. It not only shows that we take pride in our school itself, but that we support one another in the challenges faced on the field and court of play. There is something about seeing success in another who wears the same school colors as the rest of us. They represent us and are called to do so honorably. Let us show the Lady Falcons how much we support them by getting out tonight and cheering them on. No one can control the outcome of the game, but we can decide to support them in their efforts.

School spirit is also about supporting others. At Mass this past week, officers from Loyola’s FAITH organization spoke about their need for assistance in their efforts to feed the hungry this year. St. Joseph is asked to bring canned goods between Monday, November 10th, and Friday, November 21st. We have helped out almost every year, and with over 200 families at SJS, we have been given the opportunity to make a positive impact with Loyola College Prep, many of whom are Falcons themselves. Please send canned goods with your child to school over the next two weeks.

Finally, our school frequently discusses the virtue of patriotism. The best example I can think of is the testimony of veterans of the United States Armed Forces. We are blessed to have so many parents of St. Joseph who currently serve and have served so bravely for our country, defending our inalienable rights and the freedom endowed to us by our creator. This Tuesday, we will have a Veterans Day Mass (yes, on Tuesday) in their honor. Afterwards, we will hold a special brunch just for them as well as their SJS loved ones. Let us remember to pray and share a word of gratitude for their service. We pray that everyone has a blessed week and will represent our school well. St. Joseph, pray for us. GO FALCONS!
