Dear St. Joseph Families,
There are some important ecclesiastical and secular holidays coming up. We begin the month of November with All Saints, immediately followed by the feast of All Souls. Soon afterwards, we will have Veterans Day, and we will conclude the month’s holidays with Thanksgiving. All seem to focus on blessings in our lives that are the result of the efforts of others. We will take time this month to honor those who have made some sort of sacrifice for us. Indeed, it is a time to give thanks.
I strongly recommend fostering this attitude of thanksgiving within your child this month. It begins with great examples of individuals in our Church who stood for worthy causes. Maybe, with a heart of thanks, we too will become the ones who can be shining examples to others. It is easy to focus on the flaws we see in others. Those moments may have their place, but how often does focusing on the flaws of others stop us from being witnesses of Christ? Let us be such witnesses to the students of our school. I share these words with parents and faculty alike. You can be assured that these words are not lost on the principal. We are all called to virtue.
Over the next couple of days, these young ones will be filled with the joy of costumes and candy, let us be sure to take the opportunity to reflect an attitude of thanksgiving so that we may bring forth greater and enduring joy in their minds and hearts. St. Joseph, pray for us.
