Dear St. Joseph Families,

As we draw to a close of the Mardi Gras season, we find ourselves meeting a very sacred time in the Church Calendar- Lent. As many of us know, Lent is a time in the church were seek out spiritual renewal so to be prepared for a deeper understanding of the coming celebration of the Paschal Mystery of Jesus Christ. It is Christ who completed all necessary work for our salvation. To better understand his passion and his glory, we seek to draw closer to Him through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.

While there are certain disciplines in the Church that provide guidance for practice for certain ages, they are still disciplines that can be practiced for all ages. Let us carefully consider how we will promote such greater discipline and devotion in our own homes. St. Joseph Catholic School will participate in an annual almsgiving of partnering with the St. Vincent DePaul Society by collecting non-perishable food for the needy in our community. Our school will also participate in serving our parish in the St. Joseph Altar. Religion teachers will send out information so that items may be turned in for this wonderful tradition in our faith community.

Consider joining us for different observances of the faith. Many times during the season, the school will be joining together for First Friday Adoration and Stations of the Cross. If you see the flyer below, you will see opportunities for families and parents to grow deeper in the faith through different scheduled events. We hope that the season is a fruitful journey, leading to a more joyful experience of the Resurrection of the Lord. St. Joseph, pray for us.
