Dear St. Joseph Families,

Welcome to Catholic Schools Week! This is an annual celebration of different activities that celebrate different aspects of Catholic education and our Catholic community. While our school was founded as part of the original mission of our parish back in 1951 under the direction of Bishop Charles Greco and Fr. Joseph Gremillion, we are part of a heritage and tradition that goes back much further.

Education can be seen as something performed by Christ in the gospels themselves. In fact, his followers are disciples from the Latin for student. It was the role of the 12 Apostles to begin teaching the 3000 converts to Christianity on the day of Pentecost as seen in Acts 2. Monasteries became the original institutions of learning in countries throughout the known world during the Middle Ages and medieval times.

Due to a deep French and Spanish heritage in our state, Catholic education spread to the citizens of the state for those who wished to partake, maintaining a rich heritage of faith in all seven dioceses.

St. Joseph Catholic School has partaken in this rich heritage of Catholic education for nearly 75 years. Others may wish to experience the great heritage of Catholic education. That is why our open house will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 5:30 PM-7:30 PM. Registration is open to all current families so be sure to check FACTS. Please extend an invitation to others who wish to experience academic excellence surrounded by faith. Happy Catholic Schools Week! St. Joseph, pray for us.
