Dear St. Joseph Families,

We are already approaching the halfway point of the First 9 Weeks of the school year. Progress reports will be sent home on Wednesday. At St. Joseph, we encourage families to read it for what it is-a progress report for the the first 4½ weeks of the year that has included students getting accustomed to new teachers, routines, environments, and workload.

By now, some students have it figured out and some need more time. The gift of time is a precious gift and this may be a time to do a check-in with your child. To what are they adapting? With what do they still find themselves struggling. Take time to listen to hear what they have grasped. Take the time to see if they need help with organizing. Take the time to reach out to a teacher and see if there is something that you can do as a parent to assist your child.

Students begin the year with a high level of enthusiasm. They wish to plug in to clubs and sports and groups. While these are all good things, children are very good at overextending themselves before they realize, “I have too much on my plate.”

Reflect. It may be that they need to say no to something for the sake of their report card coming up in another 4½ weeks. Let us prayerfully consider the steps that will set our students up for success. Just as much as the gift of time is of great benefit, so is the gift of being able to say, “No.” Just some food for thought.

Please review Page 3 for an amazing opportunity to support our school.

St. Joseph, pray for us.
