Dear St. Joseph Families,

We received a number of incredible contributions from our families for the beginning of our Lenten service project. Our students brought in a lot of canned fruit. Remember that this week, we are collecting canned green beans and corn. During the season of Lent, we do a lot of activities for the sake of drawing closer to the Lord. Hopefully, we are receptive to Lord’s call to journey with him through “the desert” and will come out with a much stronger faith after allowing the Lord to do a mighty thing within us, utilizing different spiritual activities to draw close to Him.

We are beginning the Stations of the Cross this week. Our religion teachers will guide our students through the footsteps of Christ, reflecting on the Lord’s suffering and death. That being said, Friday evenings at St. Joseph Catholic Church is a great opportunity to encounter the Lord in a number of way. No, I am not here to encourage the buying of fish plates (though they are delicious). I encourage you to bring your family for a time of prayer and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

Ask our 8th grade students. Having the opportunity to sit before the Lord, face to face, is a powerful experience. Try to commit to just one Friday. I get it. There’s practice, its the start of the weekend, and I have 4 kids to wrangle. Still I hope to see you there. I ask that dads would consider this calling. Statistics show that fathers play such a critical role in the future faith life of their children. Whether your kid, your grandchildren, or bringing your child’s friends along with the family you have an opportunity to have a powerful influence. That being said, Dads, do not forget about this week’s Falcon Dads meeting at Greg Redmond’s clinic! St. Joseph, pray for us.
