Dear St. Joseph Families, Happy Catholic Schools Week! This is an annual event where we celebrate all aspects of our Catholic school, founded almost 75 years ago to meet the educational and formation needs of those looking for such an experience. No doubt, Fr. Joseph Gremillion, our founder, would be quite proud of those young students. If you didn’t pay attention to any posts on social media last Friday, it is easy to see why we think so highly of our students. SJS students were awarded diocesan student of the year for middle school and elementary (John and Charlie Foret). It was soon after that we learned of 8th graders earning much recognition at the local science fair. Many will go on to state competition with one of our young ladies, McKenzie Meiki, placing first overall not only in her division but for entire fair. There is no doubt that God is glorified by the efforts of students and faculty in this realm. As our school families are aware, academic excellence is part of the focus of our motto. The other key focus is faith. This past weekend, many parishioners saw our students serving the parish as a beautifully talented choir, fluent proclaimers of the word, and serving humbly at the altar. This actually occurs every week at our parish, but it is good to have it pointed out as the school is a key ministry in the life of the parish and our students fully and actively participate in both. It is that time of year where many see such activities and begin to discern the call to become part of the Falcon family. I want to remind our school families to re-enroll soon as our open enrollment is this week. Let us continue to welcome others to this family of families at St. Joseph, working towards the same purpose when our school was established almost 75 years ago. St. Joseph, pray for us.
