Dear St. Joseph Families,

As you can see in the Upcoming Events column, there are some special activities taking place within the life of the school. Many of these activities should draw us to praying for our students. Tuesday is a big day for students in 5th and 8th grade as they are competing in our Student of the Year competition. 7th Grade will be on retreat this Thursday at St. Mary of the Pines. 8th Grade will be out there Friday for their retreat.

You are invited to attend a special parents only event on Thursday evening. At some point, parents will have “the talk” with their children. As a Catholic community, it is important to have a clear understanding as to how to have such conversations so the speaking that night on such a topic is Brian Butler. He has written extensive work on Pope St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body and has spoken with parents and young people on such topics over several years. You may not want to miss this. Again, this is a parents only event.

On Friday, we will have a special Mass for the holy day of obligation, the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Remember that his Mass holds the same weight as attending Mass on Sunday so it is important to attend. I cannot think of a better example for our children than to attend Mass with them. We will also have the parent-led rosary before Mass this Friday and all of the Masses during the season of Advent.

St. Joseph, pray for us.
