Dear St. Joseph Families,

I pray that everyone had a fall break that allowed them to experience rest and recreation. I was laughing with others this morning, wondering where our fall break was when we were children. Still, it is something we are grateful for and I hope we utilized this time to get geared up for the new 9 weeks.

It is fortunate that the new 9 weeks begins during the month of October. Our students are going to encounter a number of feast days this months dedicated to so many saints who performed so many amazing acts of service for Christ and His Church. It is something to reflect on for ourselves. It seems that following such examples creates a high expectations for our students and faculty. Nonetheless, we are called to such standards.

It is important to understand that the calling on our lives is to live out the expectation set forth by Christ. We will always fall short, but by His grace, we are formed into the best version of ourselves. I remember my old pastor from back home would often preach to our students about their calling.

Sure, we may become priests, religious brothers and sisters, deacons, and many called specifically to the married life. He would tell the students that those callings would be revealed in time but the best version of ourselves that we can seek to be is to be the best student we are called to be. We are called to reflect His love now by growing in wisdom, knowledge and virtue now. Let us pray for our students that this new 9 weeks will allow for such grace. St. Joseph, pray for us.
