The month of October is an important time for Catholic schools. First, October is the month of the Rosary where we will have special rosaries prayed on the 7th (Spanish Rosary) and 22nd (Balloon Rosary).

It is a time of celebrating the saints as we prepare for the Solemnity of All Saints. 10/1 is the feast of St. Therese’ of Lisieux and we will have a procession of roses so please send your child to school with at least 2 roses of any color. 10/4 is the feast of St. Francis of Assisi and we will have the Blessing of Pets at University Veterinary Hospital that evening. 10/5 is the feast of St. Faustina and we will pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy in the church. We will be praying for greater respect of all human life at each gathering.

If you haven’t done so, as your principal, I urge you to get signed up for the culture project. Such conversations with our children are difficult but St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Culture Project are equipping families with the right tools to have such conversations. Sexuality is a precious gift for mankind but a difficult topic to approach. It is important to have such conversations with our children. If we don’t form them properly, the culture will.

Let us take our responsibility seriously as parents who are the first teachers of our children. We have an obligation to ensure they are formed properly according to our Christian faith as we agree to do so at the moment of their baptism. While the program is designed for middle school and up, parents of younger children may wish to attend. Please contact the church office with any questions you may have.

Let us have a great week! St. Joseph, pray for us.
