The St. Joseph Parent-Teacher Organization exists to create greater collaboration between both parents and faculty of St. Joseph Catholic School. Meeting monthly, the SJS PTO supports the mission of St. Joseph Catholic School by assisting in fundraising efforts in both fall and spring semesters, providing support for the faculty, and organizing school service activities such as fall and spring workdays. The St. Joseph Catholic School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a faith based entity comprised of the parents, teachers, and the parish of St. Joseph for the purpose of promoting and ensuring the spiritual and educational excellence of St. Joseph Catholic School.

SJS PTO STANDING COMMITTEES
All committees have a dedicated Chair and Co-Chair to lead each committee and the full support of both the PTO Executive Board and School Administration. All funds spent are reimbursable.If you choose to donate items, please still turn in receipts to the Treasurer for budgeting purposes.
Falcon Families (Year Round)
Welcomes/transitions new families to SJS and hosts new family luncheon before school starts in July. Chairman is responsible for communicating with school administration and keeping up with new enrollment. Chairman assigns veteran parent with new parent and follows up with Buddy System. New family contacted and introduced to PTO – Committees, school events, calendar, Facebook page, any additional pertinent information and provided with a yard sign and vehicle magnet/sticker.
Uniform Closet/Exchange (Year Round -Summer)
Provides families with FREE uniforms, spirit shirts, bags, accessories, etc. Parents/Guardians able to responsibly recycle SJS gear. Chairman is responsible for organizing and filtering items received weekly. Discontinued/damaged items removed, clothes/sizes sorted and stocked, advertises “The Closet” and any featured items. Chairman also plans/organizes Uniform Exchange in the Summer.
Dad’s Club (Year Round)
Plans and organizes gatherings to build camaraderie among the SJS Dad’s. Chairman responsible for informing all SJS Dads/Male Guardians of the Club. Communicates with the PTO Executive Board and provides extra assistance for any projects.
Falcon Angels (Year Round)
Provides support and encouragement for SJS Families in need with prayer, meals, financial assistance, etc. Chairman maintains the database of all current SJS Families. Chairman receives all prayer and other support requests, confirms with family that they are comfortable with support, and uses a database to inform all SJS families of need/future assistance. In charge of organizing rosaries (typically monthly and for special occasions).
Hospitality (Year Round)
Helps to lead the charge in showing extra love and support to our teachers. Chairman will purchase and stock Teachers Lounge with snacks monthly and coordinate teacher meals including in-service days during the summer.
Head Room Mom (Year Round)
This individual ascertains that each grade level has at least 2 room moms to help their respective teachers with class needs, field trips, and class events throughout the school year (*holiday, teacher birthdays, testing week), as well as keep the individual room mothers informed of the dates and possible monetary needs of such events.
Parents Night Out (August – Week Prior to Back to School)
Back to school social event for ALL parents. Chairman is responsible for securing location for social, planning food/drinks, decorations as needed. Coordinate marketing – creating invitations to be sent via email, mail, summer packet, PTO Facebook Page, School Facebook Page, etc.
Ice Cream Social (August – Sunday Before Back to School)
Back to school social for students and their families. Chairman is responsible for securing the school gym, turning in set up form with required set up for gym, purchasing ice cream and other needed items for the event, and organizing the clean up after the event. Coordinate marketing – creating invitations to be sent via email, mail, summer packet, PTO Facebook Page, School Facebook Page, etc.
Falcon Fest (October)
Annual Fall fundraiser that is supported by the PTO. Chair and Co-Chair will work together in the obtaining of necessary insurance requirements, securing sponsors for the event, coordinating food and entertainment, overseeing the sale of tickets and shirts, handling marketing and volunteers. Communicate and work with the PTO Executive Board, School Admin, and Church Business Office.
Pancakes With Santa (December)
Pancake Breakfast with Santa open to all SJS families and friends of SJS families. Chairman is responsible for ticket sales, purchasing all food, drinks, paper product needs for breakfast, coordinating kitchen staff and volunteers, decorating, booking Santa and photographer, managing crafts and games at the event, and clean-up.
Silent Auction Soiree (February)
SJS’s LARGEST fundraiser for PTO, open to all SJS families, friends, and event sponsors. The evening includes food, entertainment, and a silent auction. Chairman is responsible for creating the theme, securing location for the event, working with the venue to plan food and drinks, coordinating the band and entertainment, collecting wine and executing wine pull, soliciting event sponsors and silent auction items, managing auction items on Handbid. The chairman will also oversee volunteers for set-up/decorating, and, for the night of the event, ticket sales, drawings, and auction winners.
Spring Family Dance (April)
An opportunity for the WHOLE family to dress up and have some fun! Chairman will be in charge of arranging decorations, food, music, photo booth, as well as handling ticket sales before and the night of the event, and organizing chaperones.
FALCON SHOOTOUT (May)
An amazing event hosted by the SJS PTO Dad’s club.
Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week (May)
A week full of spoiling our teachers with breakfast, lunches, gifts, and surprises to show our appreciation. Chairman is responsible for planning the week to include, selecting a theme, creating invitations, organizing breakfasts and lunches, gifts, and any other surprises. Chairman will manage parent volunteers to help serve the food, sit with classes, and assist with carpool so teachers can enjoy their meals.
CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK (January)
Since 1974, National Catholic Schools Week has been the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. It starts the last Sunday in January and runs all week. Chair and Co Chair are responsible for the theme and events supporting the Catholic Faith each day of the week. Budget should be kept in mind for treats/trinkets for children.
SJS PTO STANDING POINT PEOPLE
All point people will take accountability for the event without a standing committee. These are small events that need organization and adherence to a set budget. All funds spent are reimbursable. If you choose to donate items, please still turn in receipts to the Treasurer for budgeting purposes. Point person will work with the PTO Exec board to have these events run smoothly.
FUNDRAISER CALENDAR (November)
The point person will be in charge of organizing the annual SJS student fundraising calendar from rules / printing / marketing / distribution of the calendar to students and the collection of donations and prizes.
ST. NICHOLAS DAY (December)
The point person will be in charge of organizing candy canes/tags and help St. Nicholas distribute candy canes to our students. All are welcome to assist in this tradition.
OPEN HOUSE (January)
The point person will be responsible for making sure SJS Admin has all that is needed and organized for the event. Marketing ready – hand out and also place yard signs around town. Point should organize several current SJS parents to lead tours and NJHS students for the evening. As well as having decor and some snacks available for visitors.
GRANDPARENT’S DAY (February)
The point person will be in charge of making sure we invite our children’s grandparents to a nice morning of events, refreshments and light snacks. It would be great to make sure teachers have art/letters for their grandparents. This is typically a half day of school.
