Dear SJS Families,

It is apparent that after spending the first month of school focusing on the virtue of charity, our students understood this virtue and responded accordingly. The virtue of charity is the habit of responding to the needs of others out of love.

No doubt, many of our fellow citizens here in SE Louisiana are experiencing very difficult times. If you have never experienced a hurricane at full-strength, consider yourself blessed. It is quite scary. Chances are we will be supporting our brothers and sisters in SE Louisiana through different projects this year. How we respond is evidence of the love that God has placed in our hearts and our willingness to allow His love to transform our lives. For those who contributed food, water, and over $3,300 for those displaced by Hurricane Ida, thank you for your charity.

This is a special week for St. Joseph Catholic School. This Friday marks our 70th anniversary of our school. While our school was delayed a couple of weeks from the scheduled opening back in 1951 (a train with our nuns was delayed), St. Joseph Catholic School has remained open to the students in our community while providing an excellent Catholic education for every child that comes through those doors.

We invite you to join us for Mass at 8:15AM with Bishop Malone. We have a day full of activities planned for our students. This will also be the kickoff for our Annual Fund Fundraiser. As always, your kindness and generosity towards St. Joseph Catholic School is a blessing to every student. It is certainly a great time to be a Falcon!

St. Joseph, pray for us.
