Dear SJS Families,

Welcome to week three of the school year at St. Joseph Catholic School. As we are excited about the school year, I must begin to ask our families to exercise a level of caution. As we are all aware, COVID-19 is certainly prevalent in NWLA and we have seen many have to report to the hospital- even from the St. Joseph community. It is not an easy task to discern if someone has symptoms of the virus. It is not always a fever. Most cases among children right now are sore throat, headache, congestion, etc.Do not be surprised to receive contact from the school regarding a child who is displaying symptoms. Again, it may seem like an annoyance to get such a phone call but such decisions are made for the good of the community.

I would ask that we would all make such considerations for the greater good. Keeping a child home if they are displaying symptoms is very important. If they actually hang out with someone who is infected, then communicate with the school for us to prepare them for distance learning while in quarantine. Not every minute of the day will be spent in front of the computer. It is difficult for young children to stay engaged. Rather, the teachers will supply you with the materials needed and will communicate with students and family members when it is necessary to sign on.

The start of this school year will require a great level of patience and understanding for everyone. I want to say thank you in advance for the support you show every time we go through this. May Christ bless you and keep all of our families healthy and safe.

St. Joseph, pray for us.
