Dear St. Joseph Families,
As we move into the month of March, we will soon be celebrating the feast of our patron, St. Joseph. The parish celebration will be Sunday at the 9:30 Mass with the blessing of the altar and Italian feast to follow. Wednesday, March 20th, in honor of St. Joseph, patron of fathers, we will be celebrating our Father’s Day Mass at 8:15 that day. It is a blessing that the two of these go hand-in-hand as we celebrate such a wonderful patron, who no doubt watches over our school with the same love and devotion he showed to our savior, Jesus Christ, during his time on Earth.
We have been asked to help with the celebration by making contributions to the feast. I find this beneficial since almsgiving is a key aspect of this holy season of Lent. Please consider bringing a box of spaghetti noodles to school this week for the feast. We need to collect 100 pounds! Additionally, if we can get one family from each homeroom to commit to purchasing a case of water, we will provide more than enough of what is needed.
The fathers of the St. Joseph community here are unsung heroes. They may not make all of the PTO meetings, but man, they can put on a feast for the St. Nick’s Gumbo Cook-Off AND Pancakes with Santa. They also do the dirty work a few times a year around the campus- heavy lifting of school furniture to be moved to different classrooms, mounting items on the walls for teachers, power-washing around the campus, and a lot them show up to enjoy lunch with the kiddos. Let us ask for the intercession of St. Joseph to pray for these wonderful men in the lives of our students and may they have lots of fun with them during our spring break. St. Joseph, pray for us.
