Dear St. Joseph Families,
As we concluded our week last Friday, we faced a very intense storm that appeared to be heading our way. Our Catholic Diocese advised that all after-school activities be canceled for that afternoon out of an abundance of caution.
First, I wish to say thank you to everyone for picking up their children in a timely manner. In doing so, it helped to ensure the safety of each child with a quick response time. While the storm seemed to take a more northerly path, I still find that this was the right decision as there was a path of destruction that moved all the way through Mississippi. Student safety is always a top priority.
Another top priority we should be concerned with is our own spiritual nourishment. During the holy season of Lent, there are many opportunities to attend activities to enrich your faith during this time. One exciting event to attend is the parish mission at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Fr. Leo Patalinghug is a very engaging priest who started his mission last night. He will speak tonight at 6PM as well. Fr. Leo is concerned with having families be formed into saints. You won’t want to miss out!
Stations of the cross is regular tradition that all know takes place during the season of Lent. Families are welcome to stay behind after school Masses to attend the stations of the cross with our different grade levels. If you prefer, there is always stations of the cross on Friday’s at 5:30 PM- and you can stop by and pick up a fried fish plate! Living our faith everyday is something crucial to the life of St. Joseph Catholic School.
Don’t forget about our almsgiving for St. Vincent DePaul. Please see the list below and consider giving generously for the sake of others. Thank you for your witness of generosity. St. Joseph, pray for us.
