“But you shall freely open your hand to him, and shall generously lend him sufficient for his need in whatever he lacks.” -Deuteronomy 15:8
As my first full year in the position of Director of Marketing & Development comes to a close, I am thankful to be given the opportunity to help promote the school that I attended for 6 years, and that my 2 children now attend. This school provides many opportunities that so many other schools simply cannot provide, and I am proud to be a part of it.
One of my goals as the Director of Marketing & Development is fundraising- more specifically, the Annual Fund. Each year, the school depends on our alumni, parishioners and current families to donate their time, talents and treasures to ensure the success of our school. Like so many private schools, St. Joseph Catholic School is a tuition negative school, which means that tuition and fees collected do not cover the cost of the school’s daily operation. Of the monies that are collected in tuition, over 80 cents of every dollar goes towards the school’s payroll- attracting and retaining the very best faculty and staff from year to year. The remainder goes toward monthly expenses- utilities, repair/maintenance, etc.
In addition to using our Annual Fund Donations on school improvements, we are also committed to the Endowment Fund. This fund was established to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the school in 2001, and has a $1,000,000 goal. Once the goal is reached, this fund will be used to help ensure the long term financial stability of the school, and aid in future expansion and major school improvements.
In 2016-2017, our Annual Fund raised 33,179. It’s a great start, but I’m confident that we can grow this number greatly in 2017-2018. If each school family committed to making donation in addition to the support from our parish families and alumni, we could far surpass our Annual Fund total from 2016-2017. EVERY DOLLAR AND EVERY DONATION COUNTS, and to say that 100% of our school families participated in the Annual Fund would make a big statement to our church family and community.
Thank you to all of our current donors- we simply couldn’t accomplish our goal of providing a quality Catholic Education over the past 65 years without generous donors like you.
